Oradea: Two teachers detained for trafficking drugs

Two physical education teachers and three other persons were detained in Oradea for trafficking ethnobotanical drugs. The persons detained are suspected of selling the drugs in stores since March by using “umbrella” companies. Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) Oradea prosecutors conducted five searches on Tuesday, targeting the homes of Ciprian Nicolae Iova, Ovidiu Ionut Iova, Toma Calin Lucian Martin, Lucian Hevesi and Iosif Daniel Lingurar. The first two are physical education teachers. The investigators confiscated 230 grams of powder, 2,000 envelopes of psychoactive substances, as well as the sum of RON 60,000 and two vehicles. According to investigators, the defendants recently sold the substances in a store in Oradea. They used “umbrella” companies in order to conceal the illegal commercial activities they were engaged in.
