After the candidature submitted this autumn by the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (MDRT), Romania has become Chairman of the Executive Council of the Word Tourism Organization (WTO), according to the MDRT press release. The unanimous decision was passed at the 94th session in Campeche, Mexico, of the Executive Council of the WTO. Romania has been elected Chairman of that body having been a member, Deputy Chairman and First-Deputy Chairman during the past three consecutive years. Romania’s one-year term will be in effect until the autumn of 2013. The WTO Executive Council, made up of 32 member states, is the leadership body of the organization and is in charge of coordinating the organization’s activities during the time interval between the General Assembly sessions.
