Dacia received over 1,000 pre-orders for its SUV Duster in the United Kingdom, three months before the model launched in this country, British magazine AutoExpress announces on its website. British customers were able to pre-order the Duster since the end of June, although the first deliveries will not be made before the end of January 2013. The first Dacia model in the UK will be available in three variants: Access, Ambiance and Laureate, with the possibility to choose between 1.6 litre petrol engines and 1.5 litre diesel engines. Only the entry-level version Access will feature a petrol engine, AutoExpress informed in June. One in six pre-orders was for the base version Duster Access, which will sell at a starting price of GBP 8,995. However, two thirds of those who pre-ordered the vehicle chose at least one optional piece of equipment and more than a half of pre-orders were for the Duster Laureate version, at a starting price of GBP 12,995. The success enjoyed by the Duster is probably also stimulated by the arrival to the UK of another Dacia model, the Sandero, with a starting price of just GBP 5,995.The Dacia Duster cars that will be sold in the UK are made in India, but the Sandero cars to be sold in the Kingdom will be manufactured in Romania, Renault UK officials said for HotNews.ro. Sandero deliveries will start in January.
