Rapid Bucharest qualified for the quarterfinals of the Romanian Cup after it defeated Delta Tulcea (League II) in a game in which the first two goals were own-goals, score 4-1 (3-1 at half time). Rapid’s goals were scored by Miselaricu (4th min, own goal), Cretu (22nd min, own goal), Goga (24th min) and Pancu (94th min), while Florea scored for Delta in the 40th minute. Rapid’s Ovidiu Herea missed a penalty shot in the 12th minute. Throughout the game Rapid fans shouted insults against the Rapid players, against Rapid owner George Copos, Rapid executive president Constantin Zotta and Rapid Administrative Council president Ion Taban. The shouts included: “you are scum,” “we are always by your side, you are always mocking us,” “leave Giulesti,” “this is not Rapid,” “George Copos you’re the club’s traitor, you and your family have betrayed our history.” Rapid striker Daniel Pancu, Rapid coach Marian Rada and former coach Marius Sumudica were the only ones whose names the fans chanted in a positive manner.Also on Tuesday, Petrolul Ploiesti won its away game against FC Brasov, 2-0 (1-0 at half time). The goals were scored by Cristea (1st min) and Bokila (63rd min). There were 1,500 fans in the stands, 350 of them rooting for Petrolul. Astra Giurgiu qualified for the quarterfinals of the Romanian Cup after winning its home game against CS Turnu Severin in the last-16 stage, 5-1 (1-1 at half time). Distefano (10th min), Seto (68th min), Budescu (70th and 73rd min) and Yahaya (79th min) scored for Astra, while Olah (20th min) scored for CS Turnu Severin. The following last-16 stage games took place yesterday: Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt vs. Gaz Metan Medias; CFR Cluj vs. FC Botosani; Concordia Chiajna vs. Steaua Bucharest.
