Romania pays new tranche to IMF

With the occasion of the new visit by the joint delegation of the International Monetary (IMF), European Commission (EC) and the World Bank (WB), which began in Bucharest,  the National Bank of Romania (BNR) paid back a new, instalment of nearly  660 de  M de euro from the 12bln-plus euro loan taken in 2009, according to Realitatea.net. The first instalment of 546.25 M Special Drawing Rights (SDR) took place on Aug 6, 2012, and the next is scheduled for Dec 21, 2012, when Romania will return 214.75 M SDR, or about 270 M euro. At government’s session yesterday, Premier Victor Ponta asked  Deputy PM  and Fin Min Florin Georgescu, and other ministers to approach with the IMF the issues of VAT on agricultural products and the wrongly calculated military pensions, and outlined that this Cabinet stuck to the tough pledges to the Fund  made by the previous governments.
