Telecommunications market up 75 pc in 2003-2011

The Romanian telecommunications market rose 75 pc during 2003-2011, to 3.5 bln euro, circa 2.6 pc of Romania’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to data from the Communications Regulating Authority (ANCOM), Mediafax reports. The mobile telephony saw some spectacular increases in the number of users, up  257 pc 2003 thru 2011, from 6.5 M to 23.42M, and with respect to the monthly average voice traffic  and the monthly median voice traffic/user, up from 56 minutes in 2003 to 205 minute in 2011. The fixed telephony market value fell 30 pc from 2003, to 530 M euro in 2011. The Internet service access market  was up 496 pc, to 550 M euro, from 9 M euro in 2003.
