Pharmaceutical drug producer Zentiva Romania (SCD), a member of the Sanofi Group, plans to hike its production for export by 50 per cent in the next five years by investing EUR 9 M in the plant. “Exports currently represent over 10 per cent of the local production value-wise and 8 per cent volume-wise. The company exports 19 products in 62 SKUs to 13 European markets, including Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy and Portugal,” Margareta Tanase, Zentiva Romania’s industrial operations manager, stated in a press conference that celebrated 50 years of Zentiva Romania. At the same time, Zentiva launched this year seven new generic products and plans to launch nine more by the end of next year, Zentiva Romania General Manager Simona Cocos stated. Likewise, Tanase added that the plant opened this year a new drug production section based on pellets, a latest generation technology that is unique on the local market, as well as a new laboratory that serves as Sanofi’s European centre for the control and release of betalactamic products made outside the EU.In his turn, Jacques Nathan, the Country Manager Sanofi Romania mentioned that Romania is a very important country for his company, but unfortunately here he can’t find any predictability, reminding the journalists about the issue regarding the clawback tax. Zentiva is Sanofi’s production unit in Romania and is part of France’s Sanofi-Aventis pharmaceutical group. The group is represented in Romania by Sanofi-Aventis Romania too.
