Bonds issue on foreign markets, at interest under 5 pc

Premier Victor Ponta  announced that, by the end of this year, during the mandate of Florin Georgescu as Minister of Finances, Romania will launch another bonds issue on international markets, which the government hopes to sell at an interest under 5 pc. Two weeks ago, during the latest emission abroad, the Ministry of Finance attracted EUR 1.5 bln by selling 7-year bonds denominated in EUR, with a yield slightly above 5 pc a year. Investors from the United Kingdom, Austria and Germany bought half of the total number of bonds, while nearly 50 pc were purchased by fund managers. This year, Romania borrowed from international markets USD 2.25 bln and EUR 2.25 bln.
