Romania loses EUR 176 M in SOP Environment financial corrections

Delegate Minister for Social Dialogue Liviu Pop on Thursday said that Romania will be losing 176 M euro by 2015 due to the “thieveries” allegedly by the European commission with respect to Sectoral Operational Programs (SOP) Environment, Mediafax reports, who quoted the minister as saying that the European institution tried to apply a 25 pc financial correction to the program, yet following talks, the two parties agreed on a 10 c correction instead. “During 2009-2011, this financial line has seen illegal tenders and contracts. This means a 90 euro loss for each Romanian, we’ll see who’s guilty for that. Investigation authorities took note of those projects where acts of theft were signaled,” Liviu Pop also said.
