Fruit imports from Turkey, subject to thorough verification

The minister of Agriculture, Daniel Constantin said yesterday that all fruit imports from Turkey will be subject to thorough verifications, as ANSVSA and the Agriculture Ministry found and destroyed 120 tons of grapefruit brought from Turkey, which exceeded the allowed content of pesticide residues, Mediafax reports. This is an important quantity – 120 tons of grapefruit imported through six shipments from Turkey – which laboratory tests found with an excessive content of imazalil – an active fungicide used to treat vegetal crops.
