Resumption of debates in Mircea Diaconu case rejected

Commission unanimously decided yesterday to uphold its initial report concerning PNL Senator Mircea Diaconu, being of the opinion that the resumption of the vote on noting the cessation of his term can only be based on solid reasons, through an agreement reached by the leaders of political groups. Toni Grebla (PSD), the chairman of the commission, stated that the members of the commission analyzed a request from the Permanent Bureau, the latter sending them President Basescu’s letter to the Senate, a letter that asks for the case of Liberal Senator Mircea Diaconu, who was found incompatible, to be re-analyzed. The Senate’s plenum rejected on October 30 the National Integrity Agency’s (ANI) request to terminate the mandate of PNL Senator Mircea Diaconu as a result of a final ruling made by the High Court of Justice.
