Serban Ionescu was admitted to the Intensive Care unit of the Floreasca Emergency Hospital of Bucharest, in serious condition, sources close to the actor announced yesterday. The actor was taken to hospital Tuesday, when his health problems aggravated, added the sources, quoted by Mediafax. Hospital sources confirmed the news but refused providing information about the condition of the actor. Serban Ionescu had been under treatment at the Elias University Hospital from September 18 until October 2, in view of a surgical procedure aimed at allowing him to have a complete diet. At mid-August, Serban Ionescu – who was initially diagnosed with borreliosis one year ago – returned to Romania from the German clinic where he was treated, which diagnosed him with amyotrophic sclerosis.
