The revenue collected for the state budget by the National Agency for Tax Administration (ANAF) in the first ten months of the year were higher by 8.1 per cent than the revenue collected in the first ten months last year, up from RON 87.76 M to RON 94.85 M, Mediafax reports. ANAF President Serban Pop says in a release that the increase of the collected amounts to the state budget primarily comes from the ‘decisive measures’ taken against tax evasion and corruption. ANAF has conducted various checks and works together with the Public Ministry and the Ministry of Administration and Interior for combating tax evasion and smuggling. ‘I said at the beginning of my term, we pay special attention to fighting powerful tax evasion stakeholders that are quite capable to reach the highest levels in the administration. These groups are very much disturbed by ANAF’s action these days. There are pressures and we may see attacks on the Agency and its management. ANAF will continue to carry out its duties as effectively and with the same integrity it has in the last six months,’ Pop notes. ANAF reminds in its press release of the newly set up Integrity Directorate General with national jurisdiction for identifying civil servants in conflict with the law.
