Premier Victor Ponta, USL Co-President, said yesterday there will be parity of portfolios between the Centre-Left Alliance and Centre-Right Alliance in the new Government
‘UNPR is a part of the Centre-Left Alliance. What I can guarantee to you is that there will be parity of portfolios between the Centre-Right Alliance and the Centre-Left Alliance. How and which portfolios are subject of negotiation in the Centre -Right Alliance is their problem, what we negotiate in the Centre-Left Alliance is our responsibility. But we are not selling the skin of the bear before we have killed it,’ the PM said after the USL leadership meeting. He noted that, if on the night of December 9, USL obtained the absolute majority of the number of existing seats in Parliament, the Union leaders would go to the negotiations with President Basescu in the current formula. ‘And, in order to be able to come with a Government in Parliament on December 21, I am already working on the structure of the Government the way I want it or the way I see it. When I am ready, I will present it to my USL colleagues. I am not going to make it public before December 9, because things need to be done in a certain chronology,’ said the USL co-president. PNL President Crin Antonescu, in turn, said yesterday that it was too early for anyone to be talking about the new Government. He however admitted to having discussed Relu Fenechiu and Varujan Vosganian’s possible designation as members of the new Cabinet if USL won majority in Parliament. ‘I, too, have the right to propose people when we have the governmental structure, first in PNL and then to the PM and I have said that I had in mind two of my colleagues for the nominations. That’s all, it doesn’t mean that we have set up the Government,’ Antonescu said during a press conference after the USL meeting. He stressed out that Victor Ponta was going to be the USL designation for prime minister. On the other hand, Antonescu said that it was still too early to be talking about setting up the new Government.
