BNR Governor awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland

The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Romania Marek Szczygiel bestowed on Mugur Isarescu, Governor of the National Bank of Romania the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, according to a press release. The high-rank decoration was awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland in recognition of Governor Isarescu’s contribution to the development of Polish-Romanian economic cooperation and the popularization of our countries’ common history, a press release from the Embassy of Poland informs.The awarding of the decoration to Governor Isarescu reflects the excellent bilateral economic cooperation between Poland and Romania and emphasizes the importance of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries. “It is a real honour for me that the circle of Poland’s closest friends includes the most trusted public servant in Romania, an eminent, well-respected economist, probably the most experienced head of a central bank in the world” – said the Polish Ambassador, while expressing his appreciation for Governor Isarescu’s commitment to bilateral relations and for the close cooperation with the National Bank of Romania, the Polish Embassy in Bucharest experiences in its activity.” Thanks to Governor Isarescu’s leadership, the contacts between the Polish and Romanian economists and the cooperation between the central banks reached an unprecedented high level in recent years.
