Population dropped by 1,981 persons in October

Romania’s population dropped by 1,981 persons in October, a month in which 18,641 children were born and 20,644 persons died, the National Statistics Institute (INS) data published yesterday shows. In October the number of children born grew by 945 month-on-month, while the number of persons that died grew by 3,523 month-on-month. The population growth was negative in October this year as well as in the same month last year, back when the population dropped by 4,496 persons. In October there were 10,266 registered marriages (5.7 marriages per 1,000 people), 6,620 less than there were in September. 2,373 divorces were registered in October (1.31 divorces per 1,000 people), 236 less than in September.
