Antonescu: Finance Ministry could split into two ministries

National Liberal Party (PNL) president Crin Antonescu on Tuesday evening said the Social Liberal Union’s (USL) most likely proposal would be for the Finance Ministry to split into two ministries, according to the French model, and the Ministry of Economy into three, according to Mediafax.  “Following a certain logic, government, without increasing public spending, could expand its structure, which means there could be more ministries, according to the idea laid out, with good arguments, by Mr. Ponta to achieve the best possible parallelism between our government and the European Commission, a French formula also applied in Romania in 1991 and for a little while in1997, at the beginning of the CDR–PD government. I believe this is the alternative we are heading to,” said Antonescu, who added that the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) would be part of the structure of a finance ministry.
