Basarab flyover moving sidewalk finished

The Basarab Overpass moving sidewalk is ready and will be inaugurated with a six month delay, Sorin Oprescu said. It will allow pedestrian transport from the Basarab Bridge to the North Railway Station. According to the City Hall, once electricity supply contracts are signed, the moving sidewalk can at long last be inaugurated, City Hall officials said. The 240m moving sidewalk has a capacity of 6,000 people/hour each way. It will only take passengers about 2 minutes to get from the Basarab Overpass to Bucharest North Railway Station.Signing the protocol with rail operator SNCFR on the sidewalk area and rail networks being detoured was the main hurdle to the project being finished in due time.  Once the moving sidewalk is ready to operate, the Basarab Overpass inter-hub station will be completed as well. It will be Romania’s largest and will include a tramline on the bridge, three under the bridge, bus and trolleybus lines, underground lines, two railway stations for domestic and international transport. The station has two access ways: from Grivita Road and Dinicu Golescu Blvd.
