The last plenum session of the Senate wednesday afternoon marked the conclusion of the legislature 2008/2012, with Senate Speaker Crin Antonescu (PNL), making the announcement. Antonescu said that during the said interval the Senate passed 1,604 normative acts, of which  592 legislative proposals, 553 Emergency Ordinances, 106 regular ordinances and 353 bills of law. The Senate Speaker also said that, during such an extremely agitated, political turmoil period, the Senate made proof of a special balance, of democratic spirit, of civility and political dialogue. “I believe that what is worth of note during this extremely agitated, political turmoil, period, the Senate, in general, made proof of special balance, and to a great extent succeeded, despite the general tumult, in showing a democratic spirit, of civility and political dialogue between various groups of the power and the opposition, even in the most difficult moments,” Antonescu said.
