The market of telecommunications increased by 3.5 pc in the six months of the year to RON 7.48 bln (EUR 1.64 bln), driven by higher of incomes from internet access services, mobile telephony and the retransmission of audio-visual programmes to end users, the National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) announced, quoted by Mediafax. “With the exception of land telephony and leased lines services, which registered a decline by approximately 11 pc of their incomes compared to the first half of 2011, to RON 745 M and RON 133 M respectively, the other incomes from communication services were on the increase. Internet access services advanced by 16.2 pc to RON 1.1 bln, mobile telephony went up 0.1 pc to RON 2.7 bln, while the services of linear media audio-visual programmes retransmission to end users reached RON 796 M, up 2.6 pc against June 2011,” reads a press release issued by ANCOM. The incomes from interconnection to mobile and fixed points increased by 1.45 pc to RON 999 M, respectively 14.6 pc to RON 341 M. Traffic towards the emergency number 112 made from land-based telephony networks increased by 17.3 pc annually, to 1.1 million minutes, while traffic originating in mobile telephony networks to this number amounted to 6.2 million minutes, scoring an advance of 12.8 pc. According to the statistic data report, at the middle of this year there were in Romania 5.5 million users of packages of communication services (integrated services and linked services), up 68.8 pc against the similar interval of last year, which took the penetration rate of packages of electronic communication services for 100 homesteads to 77.6 pc. Out of the total number of package services users, 3.77 million are using packages of two communication services, up 105.5 pc against a year ago, while the number of those who use packages of at least three electronic communication services increased by 21.5 pc, to 1.73 million.
