Daianu: The new ministers will have much work to turn the economy around

The Social-Liberal Union (USL) ministers will need a great deal of work to stir an economy which, in the best-case scenario, will grow 1.5 pc next year. Price rises will be outside the BNR target, former finance minister Daniel Daianu believes, according to evz.ro. “Given the many economic portfolios and the overlapping duties, efficient cooperation is needed, and Deputy Premier Daniel Chitoiu will play a significant role in this area,” said Daianu. Varujan Vosganian <who, as a finance minister created a deficit of 5 pc GDP>, given his intelligence, training and top level bureaucratic experience, may be a better minister than he was in his previous tenures, Prof. Daniel Daianu says. Also, Constantin Nita, who takes over the energy portfolio and has a brief central administration career as an S&ME minister under his belt, should cooperate well with Ministers Sova and Vosganian in attracting major foreign investors. Daianu has a white ball for Maria Grapini the new Minister of Tourism and S&ME, whom he considers to be an “energetic and combative person with a long experience in the private sector”.
