Sergiu Nicolaescu admitted to Elias Hospital

Sergiu Nicolaescu, has been in Bucharest’s Elias Hospital since Wednesday, sick with a chronic digestive condition. Hospital officials said that surgery is not considered an option, with the 82-year-old film director being administered medication. Medical sources on Wednesday said that Nicolaescu was admitted to hospital after he fell and fissured some ribs and might undergo surgery for a pulmonary condition.  The film director fell a week ago while on his way to his garage, and fissured a couple of ribs after the fall. Nicolaescu, who had just completed his fifth term as an MP, said he would no longer stand for Parliament, so that he could dedicate his time to making films.
