12 roads of Iasi County were blocked yesterday afternoon because of snow and blizzard. The west of the county is the worst hit, with a snow layer measuring one meter thick.
The National Weather Administration (ANM) warned yesterday that weather will get very cold in most regions of the country, and snowfalls are expected for the second half of January. According to ANM, the second week of this month starts with freezing temperatures that might reach -11 degrees Celsius. In the second half of the month, temperature will slightly rise to the normal average values for this interval, while precipitations will appear first as rain, then also as snow, in the majority of the country.According to weather experts, the lowest temperatures during January 7-9 will be recorded in Transylvania (-10 C, even -20 C in depressions) and Moldavia (between -18 C and -10 C), but the cold air will also reach Banat (between -5 and -10 C), Crisana (between -7C and -11C), Maramures (-10C) and Oltenia (-10C). The January 9-11 interval will come with positive temperatures in most regions, but then the weather will become slightly colder during January 14-20, when temperatures normal for this time of the year. Most regions will see mixed precipitations and snow after January 10, especially on January 14-15 and January 18-20.At the mountain, the interval analysed by ANM (January 7-20) will start with freezing temperatures in the majority of regions. After January 8, temperatures will go up slightly, so on January 10-11 they will reach approximately -8 degrees Celsius at night and -3 degrees during daytime. The interval January 13-20 will be marked by temperatures close to the multiannual average values for this time of the year, without extremes. Precipitations – mostly snow – will fall after January 10.
