Natural gas imports dropped by 16 pc in first 11 months of 2012

In the first 11 months of 2012 Romania imported 2.073 million tons of equivalent oil (toe) of natural gas, down by 15.8 per cent (389,600 toe) compared to the same period in 2011, the National Statistics Institute (INS) shows. During the aforementioned period the internal production of natural gas totaled 7.835 million toe, being 23,000 toe (0.3 per cent) higher compared to the one registered in the same period the year before. Romania’s proven natural gas reserves totaled 100 billion cubic meters at the end of 2011, down by 500 billion cubic meters year-on-year, representing 0.1 per cent of total world reserves compared to 0.3 per cent the year before.
