Conergy enters Romanian solar energy market

German company Conergy is entering Romanian solar energy market with a 2.2 MW photovoltaic farm it plans to develop at Bobicesti, near Craiova, in partnership with Solanna Investment. Conergy will supply some 9,400 PowerPlus modules to be used on the project covering an area of 13,700 sq m, according to a German company press release. The roughly 2.840 MWh annual yearly output of the photovoltaic farm is enough to supply electricity to 870 households. According to energy market data, the cost of investment in one MW installed in solar panes is around EUR 1.5 M, which means this investment is going to exceed EUR 3 M. ‘The Government intends to meet around 20 per cent of the country’s electricity demand from renewable sources by 2020 and, apart from wind energy, it will mainly count on solar energy’, said Conergy Board member Alexander Gorski. In a first phase, Conergy, a company with operations in over 40 different countries, will develop on the Romanian market through its Italian division.
