Gas price charged to companies goes up 5 pc from February 1

The price of natural gas delivered to companies will increase by 5 pc starting from February 1, a measure assumed by the Romanian government in the agreement with the IMF and delayed by two months as result of the change of government, according to the head of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), Mediafax reports. “The price of gas to non-household consumers was supposed to increase by 5 pc late last year, which did not happen since a government resolution needed to get passed, which also did not happen due to the change of government, yet it will come into effect from February 1,” ANRE President Nicolae Havrilet said, according to whom, the decision was up for passage by government Wednesday. “As to the household natural gas price deregulation timetable, we are within schedule, and as far as household electricity is concerned, the deregulation is stipulated to come into force on July 1,” Havrilet also said. The next rate rising stages this year are scheduled for April 1 (5 pc), July 1 (5 pc) and October 1 (3 pc). For household gas consumers, the price rise calendar includes an 8 pc price hike on July 1 and 2 pc, October 1.
