CVM report on Romania presented today

European Commission (EC) spokesperson Mark Gray will present today at 10.30 AM (11.30 AM Romanian time) the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) report on the progress made by Romania, as part of a “on the record” technical briefing. Yesterday afternoon the Romanian government issued a communiqué in which it claims that all points agreed last summer with the European Commission President were completely fulfilled and assures that it will remain “profoundly committed” to ensuring the independence of the judiciary and strengthening the rule of law. The government reminds that last summer, at a time of political crisis marked by “a lot of disinformation,” it took the commitment to fulfill several recommendations agreed with the representatives of the European Commission and presents the measures taken point by point, for each of the commitments taken.
