The “Ludovic Spiess” Opera and Ballet Experimental Studio at the Bucharest National Opera (ONB) has made preparations for an exciting journey this month to the world of music and dance with performances including “Tango Emocion” and “Musica del corazon”, according to a press release cited by Mediafax. The first meeting occurred on Wednesday, Feb 13, 7.30 pm, when mezzo-soprano Oana Andra, baritone Andras Chiriliuc and pianist Alexandru Petrovici invites the audience to “Tango Emocion”, a musical story where dance and music intertwine into a love story. On Thursday, Feb 14, 7.30 pm, tenor Lucian Corchis and pianist Livia Teodorescu Ciocanea invites the audience to Franz Schubert “Winter Journey” a song cycle that stands among the masterpieces in the art of song, written on the lyrics of poet Wilhelm Müller. The musical journey will resume on Friday, Feb 15, also at 7.30 pm, with compositions for violin and piano by Franz Schubert, Ludwig van Beethoven and Bela Bartok performed by violinist Emilian Piedicuta and pianist Clementina Ciucu, under the title “From classical to modern”, where protagonists set out to catch the swift musical change from classicism to romanticism though the landmark works of the aforesaid composers. Jazz lovers will not feel neglected either, as the Studio scheduled a “Gershwin Evening”, at the Studio Hall, Saturday, Feb 16, a show directed by Anda Tabacaru Hogea and choreographed by Maria Popa. The protagonists will be soprano Madalina Stan and mezzo-soprano Sorana Negrea, along with actor Filip Ristovski and pianist Lidia Butnariu, who will perform such famous Gershwin tunes as “I got rhythm” and “Summertime”.
