Michelin purchased 20 hectares in Zalau for new investments

Michelin group, one of the world’s main tire producers, whose annual turnover exceeds EUR 500 M in Romania, purchased at the end of January an in-town plot of land – 20 hectares – at the price of EUR 1.6 M in the town of Zalau, in view of expanding the production capacity of the plant it operates there, zf.ro reports. “This land will allow the Michelin group to continue its long-term development in Romania. At this moment, the group makes several analyses and we will announce later the concrete plan of development,” Michelin Romania officials informed.
This is the first new investment announced by the French group in Romania, after it announced last April investments of EUR 170 M in Serbia, attracted by the developing infrastructure.
At the beginning of last year, the Michelin Zalau Cord factory received new machines that will contribute to expanding the range of products. Their role will be the same as that of the existing equipment: the manufacturing of metal cord. The arrival of these machines led to 50 new jobs being created in Zalau.
