Nearly 200 Oltchim employees protested in front of the plant on Tuesday, and 20 workers announced they began a hunger strike after operations came to a halt, from lack of raw materials, at the three sections where work had resumed in Nov 2012, Mediafax reports. Protesters demand that Premier Victor Ponta come to Ramnicu Valcea to defuse the situation. The Oltchim management called for a dialogue with employees and trade unions aimed at keeping the Complex running, as salaries could be paid on Feb 15, according to a press communique. Last week too, about 500 employees protested in front of the management building, unhappy about not receiving their salaries for December and January.
