Handball: Cristina Neagu undergoes successful surgery in Belgium

Cristina Neagu, the best Romanian handball player, designated in 2010 the best handball player of the world, underwent successful surgery in Belgium after she suffered a serious injury during practice and is optimistic that she will soon be in top shape again.
“I can return to maximum potential. I’ll start over, I know very well that I have a lot of work,” Cristina stated when returning to Romania, Digisport informs. Cristina Neagu underwent surgery at Dr. Marc Martens’s clinic.
“Everything went well, as I was expecting. I had the cruciate ligament and the exterior meniscus, not the interior one as was known before surgery, torn. (…) I will probably once again become what I was starting next season, this autumn,” Cristina Neagu stated, being quoted by Digisport.
Cristina Neagu suffered an injury on January 28, 2013 during a practice session with her Oltchim Ramnicu Valcea teammates. Without Neagu on the pitch, Oltchim suffered two defeats in the main groups of the EHF Champions League, against Ferenczvaros (Hungary) and Krim (Slovenia), although the club’s avowed goal is to win the trophy.
