Galati clinic where a woman underwent liposuction 3 days before she died, closed

Hyperion, a Galati-based private clinic where a 37-year-old woman had a lipectomy only to die three days later at the Galati Co Hospital, was shut down, according to realitatea.net, which states that Dr. Cristian Nitescu, who is registered as plastic surgeon and the only one authorized to do such surgery, told Realitatea TV that he has never been involved with the clinic. Doctor Călin Dobos, who did the surgery, is accused of malpractice by the woman’s relatives. “In my view, it was a surgery that shouldn’t have caused any complications, but I think he was in a hurry since he had several more patients to operate,” Daniel Ciuraru, the patient’s brother, told Realitatea TV. In the CV posted on his website, Dr. Dobos pointed out he was a graduate of Faculty of General Medicine and Stomatology of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Targu Mures. His CV also contains information about his experience in “removing cysts, lipomas, skin cancer surgery and reconstruction etc”, since as early as his student years, according to the website. Dr. Dobos is known in Galati as the “stars’ doctor”.
