COSMOTE Romania gradually moving towards 4G

Starting end of April, the company is set to offer this new technology, in several cities including Bucharest.

COSMOTE Romania offered yesterday a glimpse of its network enhancements in terms of data speeds, during a live demo session held in Bucharest. The company is gradually moving towards 4G, as the first step was already done, by expanding the speed offered by the data network at 43.2 Mbps at national level. At present, COSMOTE Romania offers 3G data network with the largest coverage in Romania.
“COSMOTE’s mainstream in 43.2 Mbps will be available in 153 cities and 900 localities across Romania, covering 47 pc of the population, by the end of Q1 2013. In 2014, after the allocation of the new spectrum from ANCOM, the full capabilities of LTE service in terms of quality and geographical coverage, especially in heavily inhabited areas will become available. Thus, COSMOTE Romania’s data network, already offering the best speed with the largest coverage in the country, will become even better”, stated Lampros Iskos, Chief Technical Officer, COSMOTE Romania in a press conference.
With the aim of boosting the mobile Internet experience, starting end of April 2013, COSMOTE Romania is also set to offer customers the possibility to enjoy 4G technology, in several cities including Bucharest.
“Our top priority is to provide the ultimate 4G service experience – be it via modems, tablets or terminals, so all our efforts are oriented towards achieving this. (…) As of today (editor’s note February, 18th), until the end of April 2013, technology passionate are all invited in our COSMOTE store in Baneasa Shopping City in Bucharest to test the 4G services which will be available soon in our commercial offer”, added Panos Makris, Chief Commercial Officer, COSMOTE Romania.
