The European Commission (EC) transferred to Romania EUR 141.5 M part of the Sectorial Operational Program Human Resources Development (SOP HRD), the first batch to come from Brussels since the restart of the program earlier in the month, according to the Ministry for European Funds press release. “The resumption of payments by the European Commission ensures the necessary resources for the daily payment of invoices to beneficiaries allowing the program to get back to normal,” EU Funds Minister Eugen Teodorovici said, who added that restarting the three pre-suspended programs – Regional Operational, Sectorial Operational Transport and Sectorial Operational Program Increase of Economic Competitiveness – is the priority. The EC suspended SOP HRD in August 2012, following deficiencies in the management of EU funds for the interval 2009 – 2011, according to the Ministry for EU Funds press release.
