Orange: The best commercial results during the crisis were in Q4 2012

On December 31, 2012, Orange Romania had 10,283,000 customers, approximately 40,000 more than in the previous quarter, according to the financial results for last year posted by the group France Telecom-Orange, reads a press release. For 2012, the incomes of the company amounted to a total EUR 913 M, 2.6 pc less than in 2011, reflecting the impact of interconnection fees. Without the effect of regulatory measures, the incomes of Orange Romania increased by 0.8 pc in 2012 compared to the previous year. The incomes of the company in Q4 last year reached EUR 233 M, which accounts for a 2.7 pc decrease against a year ago. The fourth quarter was the best for the telecom operator last year in Romania, with EUR 233 M, compared to EUR 232 M in Q3, EUR 228 M in Q2 and EUR 220 M in the first three months of the year. In 2012, the sales of smartphones soared by 110 pc, contributing to a 93 pc increase of the mobile data traffic compared to the same interval of the previous year. “(…) This year too will be full of challenges for the telecom industry, given the pressure exerted by regulatory decision upon investment.  However, in 2013 we intend to massively invest in latest-generation 4G networks, in expanding our portfolio of services and products, and we will keep our focus on the quality of services and on how we interact with our customers,” said Jean-Francois Fallacher, CEO Orange Romania.
