Magistrates’ Association to go on judicial strike today

A first for the Romanian judiciary: the Romanian Magistrates’ Association (AMR) will be on judicial strike today, in protest of the Superior Council of Magistracy’s one month-already refusal to revoke judges Alina Ghica and Cristi Danilet. “All the court sessions will be suspended on Tuesday, 8.30 a.m.,” Norel Popescu, president of the Mehedinti Tribunal, said in an exclusive statement to Antena 3. AMR demands that the CSM immediately put an end to the attempts at delaying the conclusion of the revocation proceedings of elected members Alina Nicoleta Ghica and Cristi Vasilica Danilet, as it is not up to this institution to censure the judges’ vote. The protest action against the CSM is the strongest so far.
