Denmark supports Romania’s accession to Schengen

Romania can further count on Denmark’s support for its integration into the Schengen Area, Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt said after talks with PM Victor Ponta on Tuesday. ‘I have assured the prime minister that he can count on Denmark for keeping the same position on the beginning and finalisation of Schengen accession procedures,’ said Thorning-Schmidt.Victor Ponta, in his turn, noted the fact that he was the first Romanian PM to be visiting Denmark after 2004, and pointed out that the main objective of his trip was to reconfirm the bilateral political relations as well as to boost economic contacts. Victor Ponta pointed out that Denmark was an example of good governance, energy efficiency and modern agricultural technologies and Danish investors could find in Romania an attractive and legislatively predictable environment for doing business, also in the green energy sector.
