Romania’s biggest St. Patrick’s Day Festival, Bucharest, March 15-19

Bucharest will be hosting the biggest Saint Patrick’s Day festival this country has ever seen, March 15-19, to mark the Irish presidency of the European Union, Mediafax reports. Ireland celebrates its national holiday, dedicated to its patron saint, Saint Patrick, on March 17. Festivities will bring Bucharesters many concerts of Irish music, a pageant float parade, Irish dance performances, balls and formal receptions. The Saint Patrick’s Day Festival 2013 will start on March 15 with a gala ball at JW Marriott Hotel. The invited guests include soprano Felicia Filip, the Coras Irish dance troupe, folk singer Ducu Bertzi and Irish singer Aoife Dermody. On March 16, Bucharesters can watch an Irish dance show and a concert featuring several young Irish singers performing at the ArCuB Hall. On March 17, Victoriei Road and the Historic Downtown District will resonate with the rhythms of bagpipes and drums that will accompany a succession of Irish pageant floats and dancers. The parade will conclude with an open-air concert featuring Irish and Romanian music bands.
