U Craiova could return to League I

Viorel Duru, the director of the Romanian Football Federation’s (FRF) Licensing Department, announced on Wednesday in a statement for ProSport, that Universitatea Craiova has the right to file a licensing bid for League I. “Universitatea Craiova is currently reinstated in its rights and is an affiliated member of FRF, in line with a court decision that FRF respects. In these conditions, the club can ask for a license, theoretically a League I license too but more practically a League II license because they were demoted at the time they were disaffiliated.” On November 15 last year the Bucharest Court of Appeals admitted Universitatea Craiova’s request to suspend the decision to disaffiliate the club, a decision adopted on May 14 by the FRF’s General Assembly.
