Financial stability for COSMOTE Romania and Romtelecom in 2012

Despite the difficult economic background, COSMOTE Romania’s revenues remained stable compared to 2011, at EUR 462.8 M, a press release informs as data reported yesterday by OTE Group. Pro forma EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) margin increased by 4.4 pp, to 25.8 pc, versus 2011, reflecting significant operating improvements. EBITDA rose to EUR 119.5 M, an increase of 19.4 pc versus FY 2011. At the end of 2012, COSMOTE Romania’s market share stood at approximately 24.5 pc. In Q4 2012, the business segment grew by 32 pc versus Q4 2011, attracting customers like Proges or Leonardo. Total customer base (including Zapp) stood at approximately 6.3 million, at the end of 2012, with the postpaid ratio increasing to 24.8 pc. 3G customer base increased by 7 pc versus 2011, following the company’s developments on data services. COSMOTE Romania constantly invests in developing its national sales distribution channel, which included, at the end of 2012, approximately 550 points of sale across the country.However, 2012 was a year of financial stability for Romtelecom, as the company succeeded in keeping its incomes at a stable level and reached a turnover near EUR 620 M in the 12 months of the year. Menawhile, the Pro Forma EBITDA advanced by almost 11 pc to approximately EUR 166 M in 2012. The number of broadband customers increased by more than 5 pc at the end of 2012, compared to a year ago.
