March 18 – the day when Adrian Nastase might be set free

The National Anticorruption Department (DNA) sent Monday to the Sector 4 Tribunal the file about Adrian Nastase’s request to be released on parole, along with the motives of their appeal against the decision in which this tribunal allowed the paroling of the former premier. The Sector 4 Tribunal received the documents and, in turn, sent them to the Bucharest Tribunal, which will try the appeal on March 18. “If the appeal is rejected, the same day the tribunal sends a fax to the penitentiary and Mr. Nastase may be released that day,” lawyer Ioan Cazacu explained for Realitatea TV.On February 12, Sector 4 Tribunal admitted the request made by Adrian Nastase to be released on parole, explaining that the former premier had a behaviour “totally” conform to the rigors of the penitentiary and was never sanctioned, and the purpose of the detention regime has been met.
