The Assembly of Representatives of the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania (FDGR) yesterday unanimously elected Doctor Paul Jurgen Porr as the Forum president and successor to Klaus Johannis, rtv.net reports, according to which Porr was the only candidate for that position. “This term will be served under the sign of continuity,” was Porr’s first statement in his new capacity. “We will maintain the same loyal relationship with the Romanian state. We have a tradition that compels us to do so. As to the relations with the political parties in Romania, the relationship will be one of cooperation. With the other minorities, we will have fellowship relationships. We have a very important plan referring to our relationship with Germany and German language countries. It’s been many years since we’ve been building bridge relationships with those countries. Other issues stay the same: maintaining the German language, German language schools and keeping property assets,” the new FDGR president said. Paul Jurgen Porr is a doctor at the Sibiu County Hospital, as well as president of FDGR Transylvania. He is also Klaus Johannis’ godson.
