The government postponed by 45 days, until 30 April 2013, the moment when the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) will become functional. ASF was set up by taking over the attributions of the National Securities Commission the Insurance Supervisory Commission and the Private Pensions Supervisory Commission, Mediafax reports. The delay was decided through emergency ordinance. Dan Radu Rusanu, one of the senior leaders of the National Liberal Party (PNL) is the favorite choice for ASF heads, according to sources from the Social Democratic Party (PSD). Since the setting up was announced of the ASF, an authority in charge overseeing the insurance, private pension and capital markets, several names have been circulating for that position. Florin Georgescu, the finance minister last autumn, was one of them, but also Mircea Ursache, Daniel Daianu and Mihai Fercala.
