EuroDeputy Catalin Ivan was elected Saturday as president of PSD Sector 1 organisation, as he was the sole candidate for the office. The voting procedure was open and no ballots were cast against the MEP. On the same occasion, the party members also voted for the leading board of the organisation. At the proposal of Catalin Ivan, Dan Tudorache was elected as executive president of PSD Sector 1 and Vasile Motoc became executive secretary.Ivan announced that he was informed by Adrian Nastase that, when he will return to the party, he will transfer from the Prahova branch to that of Sector 1. Ivan added that he wants to prepare the organisation for the elections for the Sector 1 mayor, but avoided saying if he will enter the race himself. “As president of the PSD organisation, I must prepare this branch for the future battles, including that for the mayor of the sector. It is a long story about who will be the candidate, and I cannot tell this now,” Ivan mentioned. He reminded the fact that he is a member of the European Parliament and the leader of PSD group in the EP, so he has much to do in this position, because instead of focusing on the European legislation, he must counter “the misinformation and lies” of PDL.The party branch led by Ivan also ruled to support Ecaterina Andronescu, Nicolae Banicioiu, Marian Vanghelie, Robert Negoita, Corina Cretu, Titus Corlatean and Eugen Bejinariu for the positions of vice-president of the party at national scale, in the congress set for April this year. The conference of PSD Sector 1 was attended by the honour president of PSD, Ion Iliescu, the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Valeriu Zgonea, Sector 5 mayor Marian Vanghelie, Sector 3 mayor Robert Negoita and former Education minister Ecaterina Andronescu. On this occasion, mayor Vanghelie told the members of PSD Sector 1 some of his many “thoughts and concerns.” Marian Vanghelie said that he is a complicate person and recommended his fellow party members to be the same, while also being efficient.
