A recent report of the European Commission shows that Romania constructed more oil pipes than any other states of the EU during the last 20 years, realitatea.net reports. Thus, in 1990, Romania had almost 3,700 km of oil pipes, according to the EC report made public last year, more than states like Germany, Poland or Great Britain. At that date, Italy and France were the only European states, out of the current members of the EU, Capital.ro reports. The length of the oil pipes grid increased in 2009 to 5,260 km, over 1,500 km more than in 1990. France is the only country that has a pipes network longer than Romania’s and only the UK constructed more than Romania in 20 years, from 2,400 to 4,400 km of oil pipes.
