Watch alert for snowfalls and blizzard nationwide

Forecasters have issued a watch alert for snowfalls and blizzard throughout the country. The watch alert will come into force today and will expire on Friday evening. According to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), rainfalls will start today at noon in 27 counties in western, central and northern regions, and will turn into sleet and snowfalls during the night of Thursday to Friday. The quantity of precipitations will surpass 20-25 liters per square meter and 50 liters per square meter over small areas, particularly at the mountainside where it will snow. The wind speed will intensify to 55-70 kilometers per hour and will surpass 80-90 kilometers per hour at the mountainside, creating blizzards. The watch alert will come into force on Friday throughout the country, from 10 AM to 8 PM. During that period the wind speed will register hikes in all regions, featuring gusts of 55-70 kilometers per hour and over 90 kilometers per hour at the mountainside.  Weak snowfalls will be registered in Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania and northern Moldavia. The weather will start to cool down, the process being felt at first in intra-Carpathian regions and then on Saturday and Sunday throughout the country.
