Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean met Thursday Turkish President Abdullah Gul during the official visit he paid to Turkey at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, the Foreign ministry’s press office reported. Corlatean reiterated the invitation extended by the President to his Turkish counterpart to pay an official visit to Romania this year. During the meeting the two saluted the signing of the Strategic Partnership’s Action Plan that will ensure the implementation of the concrete dimension of strategic cooperation between the two countries in the economy, energy, European affairs and regional and international cooperation domains.
At the same time, interest in continuing bilateral dialogue at the highest of levels was expressed and sectoral cooperation in promising domains was encouraged. The excellent bilateral cooperation within NATO and in the fight against terrorism was saluted. Interest in intensifying cooperation in the energy domain, with the emphasis placed on the Nabucco project, was expressed. Titus Corlatean reiterated Romania’s support for Turkey’s EU accession and encouraged the registering of progress in the negotiations process.
