Culture Minister supports Timisoara’s bid for European Capital of Culture

Ministry of Culture Daniel Barbu told a press conference in Timisoara Saturday he supported the city’s candidature for European Capital of Culture 2021 and will lobby for the candidate file to one that cannot be turned down.  Barbu also said he wanted a Revolution museum being set up in Timisoara, in the building housing the Revolution Memorial, once it gets refurbished and expanded. He gave December 2014 as the museum inauguration deadline. The Timisoara Municipality formally entered the race for European Capital of Culture 2021 on Dec 20, 2012, when Timisoara Mayor Nicolae Robu outlined the city having declared itself Romania’s first communism-free city 23 years ago, and also announced Timisoara entering the race for European Capital of Culture 2021.
