The president of the Civic Force, Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, and the president of PNTCD, Aurelian Pavelescu, signed Saturday, at the Parliament, the setup protocol of the Justice and Truth Alliance, with the two saying that Romania needs a “united right.” Ungureanu and Pavelescu mentioned that the DA Alliance “merges the tradition and experience of PNTCD with the vision and new enthusiasm of the Civic Force” and “it is the first step towards the unity of the right.” “The Justice and Truth Alliance means authentic justice,” Mihai Razvan Ungureanu mentioned. Ungureanu added that, together with PNTCD he chose to form the DA Alliance because “it is not a depleted brand, does not represent an unpleasant memory.” Aurelian Pavelescu said, in his turn, that the unification of the right begins with the protocol between PNTCD and the Civic Force. According to the party leader, there was a first attempt at unifying the right, which was ARD, but unfortunately “this political project did not resist.” “Some leaders of PDL considered it would be better to break this alliance (…) This was more about self-pride, if not lack of political vision,” Aurelian Pavelescu explained. Under the protocol, Mihai Razvan Ungureanu and Aurelian Pavelescu are co-presidents of the DA Alliance. Before signing the accord, the leaderships of the two parties separately approved this alliance. Some representatives of the Civic Force that attended the event said that Mihai Razvan Ungureanu might run for president in 2014. On the other hand, PDL leader Vasile Blaga said Saturday that there is only one original ‘Justice and Truth’ (DA) construction, made by Traian Basescu and Theodor Stolojan, adding that he does not like “plagiarists.” When he was asked Saturday, at Cluj-Napoca, in a press conference, to comment the founding of the ‘Justice and Truth Alliance’ between the Civic Force and PNTCD and if he will collaborate with it, Vasile Blaga answered that he does not say why this alliance was formed. The minister of Health, Eugen Nicolaescu said Saturday that the founding of the Justice and Truth Alliance by the Civic Force and PNTCD is “a bad joke,” referring to the similarity with the name of the political alliance between PNL and PD.According to a press release issued previously by the two parties, the alliance wants “to lay the bases of the main right-wing pole in Romania.” The Justice and Truth Alliance (D.A.) was the name of the alliance between PNL and PD, which ran in the 2004 elections. FC and PNTCD belonged to the electoral alliance ARD (the Right Romania Alliance), together with PDL, under whose logo they ran in the parliamentary elections of December 2012.
