Spontaneous protest at Dacia Mioveni plant

More than 5,000 employees of the Dacia plant in Mioveni, Arges County, stopped working yesterday morning, dissatisfied with the fact that the collective work contract has not been signed and their salary demands have not been included in the document. According to the employees, the protest was spontaneous and initially took place within the plant, far from the main gate and the eyes of the press, however the employees subsequently came to the plant’s fence in order to talk to journalists, the Mediafax correspondent informed.  “Workers stopped working, we are dissatisfied with the provisions of the new collective contract that should be signed on March 31,” a protester stated, pointing out that the Dacia employees asked for a 25 per cent salary hike while the employer accepted only a 5 per cent hike. According to Dacia Mioveni spokesperson Anca Oreviceanu, talks between plant representatives and the representatives of the employees are scheduled.
